To request a repeat prescription, please follow the guidelines below and choose the right option for you.  Please allow 72 working hours (3 working days) which excludes Bank Holiday's and weekends, for your prescription to be processed.  We DO NOT accept repeat prescription requests over the telephone.

Patients on regular medication may obtain repeat prescriptions without having to see a doctor, until their medication review is due.

Repeats may be obtained as follows:

1. Using SystmOnline (see above link) or NHS App (prior registration is required)
2. Email to wmc.prescriptions@nhs.net.  Please remember to include your full name, address, date of birth and names of all items required
3. In person, by ticking the requested repeat medication on the retained part of your prescription and posting this in the prescription box in Reception or in the post box on the high street (opposite AJs Premier Sotre
4. By post - you can post your prescription slip or written request to us at the surgery.

We follow NHS guidelines by not taking any prescription requests over the telephone.

Please be aware that your prescription does not transfer with you, you will need to book a telephone consultation with a GP for these to be put on repeat if deemed appropriate.

Help with NHS costs:

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free.  This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

• those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
• those who are age exempt
• those with certain medical conditions

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

• 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £108.10
• 3-month PPC: £30.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

You will generally not be given a prescription for over the counter medicines for a range of minor health concerns.  Instead, over the counter medicines are available to buy in a pharmacy or supermarket in your local community.
